Soundtrack of film sequence

When we spoke about ideas for sound for the film sequence, we all assumed it would be really easy and that all you had to do was find a piece of music and attach it to the film. However when it came to selecting which piece of music would suit best it was real difficult as if you had music that wouldn't fit in to the tempo of the sequence it makes the film look rubbish.

We looked at several royalty free music websites and also I created a piece on garage band that we could use. The hard part was adding it to the film in the correct timing so the tempo would fit in to the storyline. We had to cut parts of the music out so it was short enough to fit in the section of film we wanted. After many different pieces of music i think the ones we have chosen fit in very well with the storyline adding tension and suspense when intended to. The scene where the girl is walking into the house was a hard one to find music for as we wanted to create a sense of suspense as she walked inside. The music we chose does that perfectly as it pauses when the girl enters the house in darkness, allowing us to add in the special effect of a scream.

The ending music was created by myself on garage band as we couldn't find a piece of music that did what we required. We wanted something that would show a sad side to the film sequence but not take away the crime element of the film. This music does that as it adds a sinister tone to the ending as the detective walks off set and the crime scene tape flutters in the wind.
