Jagged Edge (1985)

Release date: 14th March 1986
Genre: Crime, Thriller, Mystery, Romance
Certification: 18

The trailer that i came across was very short. As soon as it came on  it started with a lady crying and the whole trailer is very dark with camera angles that make it hard to see the characters faces. Which adds a mysterious tone to it. The music is very slow and almost sounds like footsteps as it has occasional drops in it, its very deep which matches the voice of the narrator introducing the film. It has constant camera changes from one scene to another adding suspence because you dont quite know what is going on. The short clip of a knife is really effective as you can only really see the blade because the rest of the image is so dark. It containts the conventions of a thriller because of the emotions portrayed in the trailer, for example the crying at the start and the scream at the end. The scream is non diegetic so we dont know why she screamed and it leaves us wanting to find out more. The trailer is in a dark space and it makes it seem as though the characters have nowhere to run or hide and makes the character seem vulnerable. This makes the audience ask the question as to whats going to happen next.
