Release Date: 3 May 2002
Genre: Thriller
Certificate: 15
The start of the trailer shows us the establishing shot of a NYC town house. The music in the background sounds like an innocent nursary rhyme but with an eerie sense to it.The music and colour of the trailer changes once the Panic Room is introduced. The screen goes black and white and its silent whilst the estate agent fills her in on the sinister facts about the room.
In this trailer we see the convetions of a thriller genre which consist of lots of emotion such as the terror and fear the mother and daughter are feeling.
This massive town house is for two people only, the mother and the daughter. This makes them vulnrable and alone leading them to be overpowered by 3 strange men in the house.
The soundtrack sounds like an empty house full of gushing wind, which emphasies that they are alone and that the house is very big.
The action paced music as the 3 men chase the women into the panic room builds suspense as the musics tempo increases as the women make it just in time in to the room.
The ending of the trailer is a plain black screen with a voice over of a whisper. This adds a sense of them being scared and alone, you feel as though you are in the house with them. The audience is engaged in the trailer as they dont know what will happen as so they cant wait till the very end were everything will be revealed.
Although our genre is crime fiction there are also some elements of it being a thriller which is why i decided to look into thrillers.
